Elizabeth “Betty” Tabyanan, 76, of Bemidji, MN passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at her home.
Elizabeth “Betty” Tabyanan was born October 9, 1948 to Sylvester and Serena (Theisen) Meemken in St. Cloud Minnesota. She was the eldest of 10 children. She learned early on the value of family and caring for the ones you love. There was never a day that you didn’t see her up early and doing something – whether it be cleaning the house, making something in the kitchen, or hemming a pair of pants. She had a strong work ethic and was very independent. She was known for her humorous and straight-forward responses, as she wasn’t one to sugar coat things. In 1969 she married her husband Isidore “Isi” Tabyanan. Their time together was filled with many great memories that she captured through photos. Even though she was camera shy at times, she was always in the thick of all the great memories and we will always know she was there enjoying the moments with us. Everything she did was for those around her. She loved hosting family and friends every chance she could, and we will forever have countless memories thanks to her. She worked as a waitress for several years which then lead to elder care and then nannying; all which gave her great joy and purpose. She was a social butterfly and thrived being around others. Her hobbies included quilting, cooking, baking, bowling, horseshoes, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sylvester and Serena, brother Kevin, sister Janice, and her husband Isidore who just left her side three short months ago.
She is survived by her son Craig Tabyanan, daughter Susie (John) Erickson, granddaughter Shelby (Wade) Erickson, granddaughter Matia Erickson, great grandson Tucker, brother James “Jim” (Deb) Meemken, brother Alvin (Alice) Meemken, brother Andrew “Andy” (Patrice) Meemken, brother Kenneth “Kenny” (Eileen) Meemken, sister Mona (Dewey) Meidl, sister Annette Wilson, brother Scott (Jayne) Meemken, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at Olson-Schwartz funeral home.
Her care has been entrusted to Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home.
