Elaine Joyce (Raddatz) Schaumburg

Elaine Joyce Schaumburg, age ­­­72, of Bemidji, MN passed away at her home on Sunday, August 2, 2020.

Elaine was born on January 17, 1948 on the Raddatz family farm in Schoolcraft Township in Hubbard County. She attended public school in Laporte MN. She graduated in 1967. She went to work at the Bemidji Hospital with the help of her neighbor Mrs. Meeks. She was an aid to help with various jobs. She worked there for 12 years. She was united in marriage to Richard (Butch) Schaumburg on December 28, 1974.  In 1980 she went to work for the Bemidji School District as an aid for Mrs. Wells for 6 years.

In 1986 she started her own day care, taking care of friends’ children and several nieces. In the summer time she would organize picnics and other events for the kids. In 1990 she and Butch moved to their country house north of Bemidji, where they have lived since. She enjoyed reading the bible, collecting dolls, cooking, house cleaning (arranging the furniture), flowers, doing word search, spoiling the grandkids, and her dog, shadow.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Butch, two brothers; Lowell (Zona) Raddatz, Kabekona, MN; Larry (Sandy) Raddatz, Bemidji, MN; three sisters; Deloris (Gene) Roach, Silver Bay, MN; Esther (Harry) Immer of Camano Island, WA; Vi (Bruce) Strobridge of Port Townsend, WA. Sister-in-law Joan (Dwight) Raddatz, Bemidji, MN.   7 adopted grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter, JoAnn Marie, twins Ernie Allen and Paula Ann; her sister Alta Parker, Brother-in-law Willis Parker, Brother Dwight Raddatz, Brother-in-law Bruce Strobridge, her parents Lloyd and Frances Raddatz.

Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Guthrie Community Bible Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Inurnment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Henderson Township, Hubbard County, 4 miles west of Laporte, MN at a later date.
