David "Doc" Moss Obituary

David "Doc" Arthur Moss passed into his heavenly home on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 83.

Doc's faith in God was the cornerstone of his life. He lived each day with dedication to that faith.

Doc was born on December 16, 1942, in Bemidji, Minnesota. He was raised in the Laporte area and enjoyed the many adventures of rural life. He spent much time hunting and fishing. And from an early age, he developed a strong work ethic while working in the logging business.

As a young man, Doc's adventurous nature and desire to embrace new opportunities led him to Kansas, to be near extended family. There, he worked in the steel industry. He later settled in Michigan, where he spent many years working for General Motors. In his later years, Doc returned to Minnesota to be closer to family. There, he started and operated a secondhand and salvage business, finding value in things others might overlook. Doc was truly a jack of all trades.

Doc had numerous talents. He loved music. He was a self-taught amateur pianist and guitarist. He persevered in his musical ventures and eventually recorded a number of CD's. He was also quite an artist and writer. In his senior years, he cleverly combined those skills, writing and illustrating a beautiful children's book titled Itasca Patchmark Bear.

Doc is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard Moss, Clarence "Stub" Moss, Allen Smith, and Joe Smith; and his sister, Shirley Lesetmoe. Also, sisters-in-law: Rosemary Moss and Peggy Moss, and brother-in-law: Herbert Klasen.

He is survived by his sisters, Patricia (Herb) Klasen, Joyce (Bud) Storlie, and Ila (Rod) Fegan; his brother, Raymond (Darla) Smith; his daughter, Amanda DeSnyder; and his grandchildren Angela Williams, Gabrial DeSnyder, and Jordyn DeSnyder; plus, great grandchildren, Legend Williams and Remmy Williams. In addition, there are many "special" nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside inurnment burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Kabekona (Laporte, Minnesota) on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited.
