David Faxon Floyd

David Faxon Floyd, 75, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, April 27, 2025 battling Cancer.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday May 5th, 2025 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

David Faxon Floyd was born March 25, 1950 in Somerset, Kentucky to Windell and Grace Floyd. He grew up in Brigham City Utah, Tama Iowa and moved to Bemidji Minnesota where he met the love of his life in high school, Jan Stebe. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1968.  He attended Staples Vo-tech for heavy equipment operator and graduated 1970. He joined the Navy and was stationed in Kodiak and Guam. September 4, 1971 he married Janice Louise Stebe. The couple bought a farm near the big town of Puposky where they lived and raised their two beautiful daughters. Dave proudly served his country for over 20 years, and retired from the Military (SEABEES) as an E6 Petty Officer in 1996.  He also retired early in 2012 from being the Head Engineer of the Bemidji School District to take care of his wife due to health issues.  

Dave enjoyed raising cows, watching movies, telling jokes and visiting with friends and family.  His favorite thing was spending quality time with his 4 grandkids. 

He is survived by his daughters Jackie (Mike) Diekmann of Walker; Janna (Tony) Johnson of Bemidji; 4 grandchildren Jessica, Ava, Samantha, and Michael “MJ”; sister Vangie Hanson and brother Walter (Linda) Floyd.

He was proceeded in death by his wife and parents.
