David Charles Cheney

Dave Cheney, 79, of Bemidji, Minnesota passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

Memorial Service on Friday, September 22, 2:00PM at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji. Visitation to start at 1:00.

He was a person with many interests including languages, music, gardening, and genealogy. As an active member of Bemidji Language Tables, he practiced his Spanish, Norwegian, Italian, French, Chinese, and Ojibwe. A lifelong learner, he recently started violin and mandolin lessons and took part in a string instrument camp with his sister. On the first Friday of each month he often sang and played his guitar at open mike night. If he was at home he was tending his garden and chickens or he was reading or studying with his dog Sadie at his side. He was an amazing human living life to its fullest.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Amber, his brother John, stepchildren Dedra and Darcy, and his grandchildren Rebecca, Dylan, and Zachary. He is survived by his sister Susan (Cheney) Scheel, Children Jeff Cheney, Dan (Denise) Cheney, Tammy (Bill) Nara, Danna Morfenski, Cathy (Jamie) Lecher, Jeremiah Cheney, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
