Carol Joyce (Miears) Janiksela

Carol Joyce Janiksela, 77 of Bemidji passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 15th, 2020 in Rochester MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday August 14, 2020 at Olson Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Genelle Netland officiating. Family will greet friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at the Nary Cemetery.

Carol was born in Orange California to Donnie and Benjamin Miears on August 11, 1942.

Carol married Romaine “Rocky” Janiksela on August 20th, 1960 in Oregon. Carol and Rocky had made many adventurous moves cross country (her recollection was 32 moves) before putting down roots in Bemidji in 1981.

Carol was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with family, friends and her beloved cat Mamma. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her niece Sandy Rivas from Florida and sisters Terri and Betty to “catch up” on things. She also enjoyed her Thursday get togethers with her good friends from Cottage Park.  Carol had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories from her many moves.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband Rocky, brother Ray Miears, brother Bill Miears and sister Francis Scholle.

Carol is survived by her sons, Jeff (Sherri) Janiksela of Bemidji and Corey (Jennifer) Janiksela of Bemidji.  Sisters Teri Vollen and Betty Cook both from California.  Grandchildren Kirk (Alyssa) Janiksela, Mindy VonAlman (Aaron), Garret (Kayleigh) Janiksela, great grandchildren Mia, Jeremiah, Aspen and Reid and many nieces and nephews.
