Bonita Johnson Obituary

Bonita Marie Johnson passed peacefully on February 23 surrounded by her husband and children.  Bonita battled complications from a brain hemorrhage, enduring many operations and procedures but never complained. She had a sweet, caring and gentle spirit which was present until her last breath.

Bonita Marie Johnson was born on February 20, 1940 to Carl and Clarice Christenson in Bemidji MN.  She attended Tenstrike and Blackduck schools and graduated from Blackduck Highschool in 1958.  Bonita was the Queen of Blackduck in 1958 and went on to be the Northwest Dairy Princess.  As an award from her pageants, she obtained a scholarship to airline school and was a flight attendant for American Airlines.  She also attended BSU where she met the love of her life, Stanley C Johnson.  They married on June 3, 1960 and made a life in Int'l. Falls MN where they raised three children.  While there, Bonita worked in the elementary school library and Sunshine Preschool.

Bonita was raised on a farm in Port Hope Township and loved the land so upon retirement in 1995, she and Stan moved back to the farm and built a home where she lived until her death.  Her focus and passion in her life was her family and she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Bonita is survived by her husband, Stanley C Johnson; daughter Celeste (Steve) Cermak of Bemidji; sons Kent (Sandy) Johnson of Stacy MN and Mark (Berta) Johnson of Alexandria MN.  Sister; Carlette (Lenus) Vernlund of Alexandria MN. Grandsons; Chace Johnson, Parker Cermak, Hudson Cermak, Wyatt Johnson and Dawson Johnson, Granddaughters; Nikki Hendrikson, Sierra Johnson and Ciara Cermak, special cousin Anita Spangler, friend Sue Monsrud and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Clarice Christenson and sister Delrose Cluff.

There will be a private service and celebration of her life this summer at the Blackduck Cemetery.
