Beverly Ilene (German) Lewis

Beverly Lewis, 91, died Monday, October 19, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Private family services will be held later.

Beverly Ilene German was born October 10, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ray & Gladys German.  She grew up and graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1947.  A few weeks later she married Daymond Bradford at her parents’ home on June 6, 1947.  They moved to Waverly, Iowa where Bev went to work at the Lutheran Children’s Home as a house parent.  In 1973, she moved to Bemidji, MN and went to work at Pamida.  On February 14, 1976 she married Myron Lewis at the First Presbyterian Church, Bemidji.  Bev worked at different greenhouses over the next few years.  She returned to her calling of being a foster grandparent and worked for Lutheran Social Services where she mentored many children in the art of reading and would remain there until her retirement.  Bev enjoyed gardening and taking care of her various pets.

Bev is survived by her husband, Myron; children, Terry Bradford and Vickie (Joel) Mills; step-children, Mick (Brenda) Lewis, Ross (Pat) Lewis, Dwight (Ginger Johnson) Lewis and Donna Lewis; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren and 12 great step-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by his parents, brother Verl; sister, Margaret; granddaughter, Kim.
