Bernice Sauve was born September 25, 1934 in Thorne, ND. She married Raymond Sauve on February 12, 1955 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Thorne, ND. Bernice guided her children through their formative years. Her passion, patience and caring showed not only in her children but also in her garden and flowers in the same way she raised her children by believing that all things grown in their own way knowing that all things must be given time, attention, love and allowing to be what they are meant to be. She was a devoted wife and a caring mother to her children. She crocheted seventeen queen size bedspreads which her children and grandchildren received and did many different arts and crafts through the years.
She was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Bemidji. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy of Crookston in 1953, then graduated from st. Alexius School of Nursing in Bismarck. While living in Roseau she volunteered as an EMT. While in Bemidji she spent ten years volunteering in Hospice helping several patients. Part of her unwavering faith was volunteering at the soup kitchen, funeral committee, and Food Shelf. Bernice and her husband were involved in pre-marriage and were the coordinators for World Wide Marriage Encounter for the Diocese of Crookston.
We are deeply grateful for the exceptional end-of-life care Bernice received from Colleen’s Caring Hands. The compassion, dignity, and kindness shown to her and our family brought so much comfort during a difficult time. The quality of care was truly stellar, and we will always be thankful for the loving support she received.
