Ashley Lynn Caccia was born on July 11, 1980 in Rochester, NY to a lovely young momma who broken heartedly made the choice to put her in the arms of two lucky parents. At 10 days old, she arrived at her new home where she had a big sister waiting named Kelly Marie and was surrounded by new friends and family. Over the next several years Ashley was blessed with four more brothers and three more sisters. Ashley started Cerebral Palsy school at two weeks old where she was able to develop physical and mental skills for two years. When she turned three, she transitioned to a head start program and was able to continue in special education classes until she graduated from high school in Crookston, MN. She lived at the Eagles nests where she was able to receive special care and develop life skills. She was able to work through the DAC program and was assigned to be a can crusher, however Ashley quickly discovered she would be better suited as a greeter and social director. Ashley was very social and quickly made several friends and gained the love of the staff members. Three staff members were particularly very special to Ashley and took extra care of her, Kim, Tanya and Jolene. Ashley’s determination, love and pure stubbornness allowed her to do things that other people with her syndrome were never able to accomplish. She especially loved swimming and, in the wintertime, would sit in her tub in her swimsuit dreaming of warmer days. She always loved to look her best, dresses were always at the top of the list with makeup and bows in her hair. Ashley’s family knows that she is running around, singing, dancing, and talking after holding it in for 40 years, heaven is real. Her family was blessed to be able to love her, she taught us all patience, understanding and kindness that we can never repay her for. She will be greatly missed and always loved.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Diane Lewis and James (Kay) Caccia; her siblings, Bob, Alyssa, Kelly, Scott, Elizabeth, Michael, Dustin and Skye Marie.
