Allen Torval Benson

Allen Torval Benson, 89, of Rosby, Frohn Township, MN passed away peacefully in his sleep at Havenwood Care Center on December 6, 2024.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Evangelical Free Church, Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Aardahl Lutheran Cemetery, Bemidji.

Allen was born on November 4, 1935 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Alfred M. Benson and Hilda Bjella Benson.

Allen was a graduate of Bemidji High School, class of 1953, and earned a scholarship to University of Michigan where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering, class of 1958.  Subsequently, Allen accepted a job at The Boeing Company in Seattle, WA.  He worked for the aerospace company for 35 years, retiring in 1995.

Allen met and married Linda D. Brandal in Seattle, WA.  They were married for 40 years.  Their loving relationship resulted in two children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Allen was a member of Evangelical Free Church of Bemidji, MN, and also attended Aardahl Lutheran Church, Bemidji, MN.  He was a member of The Gideons, Sons of Norway, Hallinglag of America, and America Reads program at Horace May Elementary School.

Remaining to cherish Allen’s memory are son Eric (Bonnie) Benson; daughter Kari (Mike) Carnahan; grandchildren Kaia, Kelsey, Lindi, Trevor, Clayton, Noah, and Benjamin; great-grandchildren Ginny Pearl, Roman, and Presley; brother Noel Benson; sister Anne Vorderbruggen; nephew Mark; nieces Laurinda, Stacy, Jen, and Amy; sisters-in-law Donna and Nancy; as well as a host of others whom Allen befriended and encouraged.

Preceding Allen in death are his loving wife Linda; parents Alfred M. Benson and Hilda Bjella Benson; baby brother Bernard Palmer Benson, and nephew Bernie Vorderbruggen.
