Alfred Stanley Kallstrom, age 98, of Bemidji, died Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji, MN.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Guthrie Community Bible Church with Pastor Mike Nelson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Zion Memorial Cemetery, Hart Lake Township, Hubbard County, MN.
Alfred Stanley Kallstrom, third member of the Alfred and Irene Kallstrom family, was born November 16, 1925, in Hart Lake Township, Hubbard County, MN. He was a World War II Veteran drafted in the Navy at the age of eighteen. After boot camp, he was sent to Guam Agana Air Base with an aircraft carrier service unit. After several months, Stanley was promoted to an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class. Stanley was flown to the air base at Marpi Point Saipan and worked on carrier-based fighter planes. He was later transferred to flight to the flight deck of the aircraft carrier CV36 USS Antietam where he traveled to many islands and China. Stanley married Jean Curtis on April 8, 1950. They lived on a farm 4 miles east of Guthrie, MN for 40 years. They then moved to the Bemidji area. He worked for Christiansen Construction Company for 20 years. He was a board member of the Guthrie Church for 24 years and drove school bus for Guthrie and Bemidji Schools 16 years.
Alfred is survived by his children, Gary (Lois) Bemidji, MN. Karen Klefsas, Mounds View, MN. 5 Grandchildren, Sarah, Erik, Katie, Pam & Amy; 3 step grandchildren, Dawn, Charlene, and Melanie; 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Christiansen.
