Viola Grimsley, 91, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Becida Community Church with Pastor Adam Molina officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Viola Louise Thompson was born July 2, 1927 in Devils Lake, ND to Ernest and Ethel Thompson. She grew up and attended grade school there. On June 8, 1944 she married Everett Grimsley in Devils Lake. They moved to Minnesota and eventually settled in Bemidji in 1960. Viola raised her children and also worked at Kenfields Box Factory, Bemidji Potato Company and the Holiday Inn. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, bingo, cards, karaoke and spending time with her friends at the Eagles.
She is survived by her children, Merlin (Cookie) Grimsley of St. Cloud, Jerry (Geraldine) Grimsley of Brainerd, Connie Grimsley of Bemidji, Judith (Larry) Leeper of Bemidji, Robert (Meg) Grimsley of Becida, Neil (Sue) Grimsley of Bemidji, Ricky (Mary Jo) Grimsley of Bemidji and Danny (Peggy) Grimsley of Solway; 24 grandchildren; numerous great & great-great grandchildren and siblings, Ernest (Helen) Thompson of Sauk Rapids, Shirley Whiting of Long Prairie and Marvin Thompson of Upsala.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Bonnie Miller; son-in-law, Mitch Miller; granddaughter, Billie Jean Strowbridge; grandson, Jesse Grimsley; brothers, Earl and Lester Thompson; son-in-law, William Strowbridge; daughters-in-law, Pam and Connie and special friend, Ray Evje.
