Verna Jackson, 69, of Bemidji, MN died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Mike Naylor Officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Verna Mae Monson was born February 24, 1949 in Shakopee to Erling and Verdell (Haferman) Monson. She grew up in Prior Lake and graduated from Prior Lake High School. Verna went to Bemidji State University where she met Russ Jackson. It was love at first sight and 9 months later they got married. They stayed in Minneapolis for 3 years and then moved back to Bemidji. They bought the Credit Bureau of Bemidji for which they owned for 14 years. Verna also worked for Bemidji Clinic as a pharmacy tech. In 1994, she became sick and had a liver transplant at the U of M in 1995. She was an officer in the Jaycee Women and enjoyed being a Master Gardener. She was also a volunteer with the University of North Dakota Extension office growing various types of tomatoes. Verna loved to go fishing but her greatest thrill was seeing and playing games with her grandchildren whom she loved so much.
She is survived by her husband, Russ of Bemidji; sons, Richard (Sue Lind) Jackson of Little Falls and David Jackson of Bemidji; grandchildren, Jaden, Eliana, Braden, Isaac and Aaron Jackson; sister, Marilyn (Dan) Borchardt of Prior Lake and brother, Darrell Monson of Staples.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlene Monson; brother, John Monson and granddaughter, Darian Jackson.
