Sandra Lee (Vanderkooi) Williamson

Sandra Williamson age 72 of Bemidji passed away on January 12, 2019 peacefully in her home.

A memorial service will be held at the Tenstrike Community Church on January 26, 2019, at 2:00 PM. Pastors Steve Pomp, and Dean Patrow, Tenstrike Community Church and Thomas Pollock, Redby Community Church will conduct and participate in the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji.

Sandra was born in Minneapolis to David Ralph and Violet Bernice Vanderkooi. She graduated from Minneapolis Washburn high school.  She married James A. Williamson on June 1, 1968 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Minneapolis.  In 1974, she graduated from Troy State University, Alabama, with a bachelor’s degree in Social Rehabilitation.  She became a homemaker.  She was a devout Christian and was involved in many church activities.  Previously, she volunteered with the Red Cross and published a newsletter called Cream of the Crop for the Vietnam Family Club, attended by families and friends of service members serving in Vietnam.  Her future mother in law, who was a member of the club, introduced her to her son James and the following year they were married.

She enjoyed quality time with her daughter, baking with her grandchildren and extensive traveling with Jim down south visiting family and friends. She enjoyed telling stories about all the places they traveled to and lived.

She is survived by her husband Jim, son James Andrew, daughter Jennifer Ann Williamson and  son Thomas Preston (Heather) Williamson, grandsons Landon, Trevin and Bentley, and sister Debra Renee (Vanderkooi) Conwell.
