Ronnie Jerald Werstlein, 84, of Bemidji, MN passed from this world on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
There will be a graveside service at Frohn Eastside Cemetery in the spring and celebration of life at that time.
He was born September 24, 1933 in Helga Township to Roamie Peter and Victoria Elizabeth (Knoll) Werstlein. In his youth, he worked on the farm with his father and brothers. When he was older he logged with his brother, Mike. Ronnie was an excellent mechanic. On July 11, 1959 he married Roberta Brennan, in the next five years they were blessed with four children. They moved to Bemidji where he held several mechanic positions including Southside Service Station and Holms Welding Shop. He went to work at Wheeler Lumber in Cass Lake in the early 70’s and retired when St. Regis bought it and moved to South Dakota. Ronnie loved to hunt, fish and play fast pitch softball and played on a few local teams.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Roberta; daughters, Anita (Fred) Reinke of Solway and Kim Niswander of Bagley; sons, Robert (Sandy Nauer) Werstlein of Princeton and Paul (Lisa) Werstlein of Cass Lake; 5 grandchildren, Keith (Lauren) Reinke, Kassandra (Robert) Stafford, Justin Werstlein, Chad Werstlein and Krista Werstlein; a great-grandchild due in March and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother & sister-in-law, Floyd and Verna Werstlein of Chula Vista, CA; sister & brother-in-law, Joyce and Harry Kolkin of Bemidji; brother, Eugene “Mike” Werstlein of Bemidji, MN; sister & brother-in-law, Belva and Marvin Holm of Richland, WA; granddaughter, Tara Niswander Martine and great-grandson, Wyatte Martine.
