It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Otis Mandrell announces his unexpected passing on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the age of 86 surrounded by his family at home.
Memorial Services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Northern Bible Chapel, Bemidji with Pastor Don Stolhammer officiating. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Northern Township at a later date, Arrangements were with the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Ronald was born May 9, 1932 to Otis & Dorothy (Moulton) Mandrell in a little log cabin in Bemidji. He was the only son among five sisters. On June 1, 1950 he married Lois Irene Day at Northern Bible Church in Bemidji. He opened a car mechanic shop in Pontiac, Michigan in 1957. In 1969 Ron and Lois moved their growing family to “The Farm” in Erhard, MN. In 1993 Ron and Lois built their retirement home in Bemidji, on his father’s land. Their retirement years were spent traveling around the country, visiting family, working on projects and tending their large vegetable garden.
Ronnie will be lovingly remembered by Lois, his wife and best friend of 68 years. Ron will be forever remembered by his children, Kathy, Tony (Barbara), Terry, Scott (Carla), Mark (Kitty), Steven (Cherlyn); sisters, Joan (John) Gordon, Joyce (Roger) Thompson, Marilyn (Art) Glidden & Marjorie Dyas; and grandchildren, Melissa, Teresa, David, Lisa, Wayne, Barbara, Jenny, Ann, Christopher, Terra, Sarah, Joshua, Josiah, Anthony, Cody, Levi, Autumn and Amber; many great & great-great-grandchildren.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Otis & Dorothy Mandress, eldest son, Barry Mandrell and eldest sister, Jean Benson and grandchildren, Alex, Jeffery & Jennifer.
