Randy Nelson, 56, of Wilton, passed away May 29, 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Bemidji Eagles Club beginning at 2 p.m. Please use the back entrance. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji.
He was born November 4, 1962, and grew up in Nymore (Bemidji), the son of Walter and Carol (Depew) Nelson. He was the youngest of five children and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1981.
As a child, he loved playing baseball and occasionally causing mischief. He was one of the first employees of Keith’s Pizza and took great pride in his pizza making abilities. He lived in multiple places around the country working for Duke Thorson and SealMaster.
He moved back to Minnesota in the early nineties to be closer to family and continued to work in the sealcoating business. He lived in the cities while raising his son Liam. After Liam’s graduation from high school, Randy was excited to move back to the place he truly loved: Bemidji. Upon his return, he started working for Bemidji Bituminous, Inc. He loved his job and coworkers. In his offseasons, he enjoyed being “Nelly Bin Loggin” for Binkleys.
Shortly after his return to Bemidji, he reunited with his good friend Annette. During the last few years, he spent time in his favorite place, surrounded by people who loved him, doing the things he loved most: hunting, four wheeling, harassing his uncle “Kilo”, pretending to farm and drinking cold beverages. He was especially proud to become a grandpa earlier this year with the birth of his grandson, Kian.
Randy is survived by his best friend ever, Annette Iburg; his son, Liam Nelson (Savanna Heidenreich); grandson Kian Nelson; mother, Carol Nelson; brother-in-law, Greg Sattler; brother, Rick Nelson; special uncle, Clair Depew, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Nelson; brothers, Danny and Brad Nelson; and sister Teresa Sattler.
