Peggy was born on July 1, 1937 in Bemidji, the oldest child of Hugh and Lena Lauderbaugh. She grew up in Bemidji and was a graduate of Bemidji High School. In 1958, she married Ray Holter in Laporte, MN. Peggy worked at a few jobs earlier in life most notably at Woolworth’s and at Lutheran Campus Services, but she spent most of her time raising her three sons and taking care of the household. She was very proud of helping all three boys get diplomas at Bemidji State University.
Peggy and Ray enjoyed family camping outings where fishing and fish fry’s with friends were enjoyed. After Ray semi-retired they made trips to Texas, Arizona, and both coasts. One summer they drove to Alaska. Around the house she kept a vegetable garden and worked on her perennial beds. She loved watching the birds at her feeders and the other wildlife that occasionally would wander through her yard. Pets were a big part of Peggy’s life and her two dachshunds, Fritz and Gunder, were treated like her children. In recent years she took care Homer, her son’s dog, while he worked and took in a feral cat.
Peggy is survived by two sons, Michael and Mitchell; grandson, Hugh Holter. She was proceeded in death by Ray, her son Mark, parents, brother Ronald and sister Joanne. In lieu of memorials a donation to a favorite charity is preferred.
