Olga Lorraine (Hadrava) White

Olga White, 97, of Bemidji, MN formerly of Laporte, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2019 at Kabekona Community Church with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Fern Township Cemetery, Bemidji. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji.

Olga Lorraine Hadrava White was born on January 17, 1922 in Becida, MN. Her immigrant parents were born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia Republic, and Village of Hadrava. John Hadrava Sr. came to the United States from Stakonita, Bohemia, Austria on November 1, 1910, his wife Josephine Kriz followed with their first 4 children in 1911 and joined John at Lake Hennepin and later they moved to Yola and the homestead in Becida. She married Carlyle Royce White on November 26, 1941. They lived at Becida, Kabekona, Guthrie which later changed to a Laporte mailing address. They were blessed with 2 children, Ronald Wayne White and Gary Lee White. Olga attended Meadowview School. Upon completion of her schooling she helped many family members in their home and hired to neighbors, plus taking care of the children. At age 17 to 19, she worked at Hiawatha Beach & Journeys End Lodge on Leech Lake. After her marriage she remained a homemaker, helping on the family farm, raising a garden, canning, butchering, whatever was needed. She loved to pick berries, make her delicious jellies, jams and pies. Olga had a freezer full of homemade goods, you never stopped for a visit without coffee and a dessert of some kind. If you stopped at meal time there was always a full course meal served! Olga lived on the home place for 70 years. You could find her tending to the produce garden, flowers, mowing, helping cut wood for heating purposes and trapping any unwanted animals. She moved to Havenwood in 2016 when her son, Gary deceased. Olga had a memory many of us wished we had, she knew the birthdates of all the relatives and you could ask her questions that connected to a date and place and she could give you all the information! Olga was the last living child of John and Josephine Hadrava, she came from a family of 13.

She was preceded in death by husband Carlyle; sons, Ron and Gary and an infant daughter; brothers, Joseph, John, Frank, Emil and Leon; sisters, Josephine, Mary, Antoinette, Anna, Emily, Helen and infant sister and many loved ones.

She is survived by 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and sister in law Lois Hadrava and many nieces and nephews.
