Lloyd Larson, 88, of Bemidji died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with a time of sharing one hour prior to the service. Reverend Robert Wentzel will be officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji.
Lloyd Bernard Larson was born January 4, 1931 in St. Charles, MN to Ben & Hazel Larson. He attended schools in St. Charles and graduated in 1948 from St. Charles High School. He then attended Winona State College, Winona, MN for one year prior to enlisting in the US Army. Lloyd would spend the next 4 years in the Army, during which he spent a year in Korea during the Korean War. On December 6, 1952 he married Dolores Mueller in St. Charles, MN. Lloyd was honorably discharged in December of 1953 receiving the Purple Heart and Silver Star. After his service to our country, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota where he eventually attained a civil engineering degree in 1958. Lloyd then went to work for MNDOT in St. Paul, MN and transferred to Bemidji in 1962. He would remain there until his retirement in 1994. Lloyd was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji where he served on its many boards as well as Council Secretary and President of the congregation. He was also a long time member of the Bemidji Sunrise Rotary as well as North Country Hospital serving as its President and also a volunteer with hospice. Lloyd enjoyed woodworking, fishing, snowmobiling and time with family and friends.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Dolores; children, Jody (Martin) Stuck and Scott (Deborah) Larson; grandchildren, Tim (Eileen) Larson and Amanda Redfield; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Doerrer and Judy Roda and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji or Sanford Hospice and Home Care, Bemidji.
