When Death Occurs
June “Judy” Sorheim, 78, of Bemidji died Monday, August 5, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center, Bemidji, surrounded by her loving family.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with a time of sharing one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Kelliher, MN.
June LaVerne Sorheim was born October 29, 1940 to Adolph & Gladys (Fletcher) Sorheim in Bemidji. She was raised at Puposky, Kelliher, Pleasant Valley and Solway where she attended school through the 6th grade. She then went to Owatonna, MN and attended school there until the age of 18. June returned to Bemidji and lived with her parents until 1980. She lived in different REM Homes in the Bemidji area and with Candy & Kaia Edlands home until 2009. Her most recent stay was at Northwood’s REM Home where she was exceptionally well cared for and loved- treating her like she was one of the family. June worked at ODC in Bemidji for over 20 years and retired at the age of 70. She truly loved being with her nieces and nephews and loved holding babies.
June is survived by sisters, Dorothy (John) Hurlbert of Bemidji, Karen (Edward) Ruby of Stacy and Marilyn (Doug) Miller of Bemidji; brothers, Arlin (Martha) Sorheim of Hines, Loren Sorheim of Bagley, Robert Sorheim and Elroy (Carol) Sorheim of Solway. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beatrice; brothers, Donald & Vernon.
