Julann "Julie" Gail (Pedersen) Melhorn

Julann “Julie” Melhorn, 79, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Tamarack Court with family by her side.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Megan Tee officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bemidji, MN.

Julann Gail Pedersen was born September 30, 1937 in Crookston, MN to Edvin and Lorene Pedersen. She attended Crookston High School and graduated in 1955. She was employed by JC Penney’s in Crookston where she worked designing the window displays for the department store. She met Bob in 1955 and they were married February 11, 1956. She was a seamstress for many years at home. She worked at the S&L department store for over a year. Julie then took a job as an aid at the Gilfillan Center. She worked as a receptionist for TR Electric for 22 years until she retired in 1996. Julie loved gardening, baking, cooking meals for her family, sewing and crafting. She volunteered for many years at the Beltrami County Nursing Home winning the volunteer of the year award.  She loved her kitties and doggies and raised mallard ducks for many years and was known as the “duck lady”. Julie loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Patti) Melhorn of Hibbing and Terry (Jane) Melhorn of Bemidji; daughters, Lori (Jeff) Nei of Bemidji and Nancy (Brian) Lofgren of Bemidji; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Bement of Waubun and Colleen “Cookie” Doyea of Dilworth and brother, Lawrence Pedersen of Alvaredo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edvin & Lorene Pedersen and husband, Bob Melhorn.

We would like to say a special thank you to our family at Tamarack Court for the extra special care and love our parents received; and thank you to the Hospice nursing staff and volunteers.
