John Karl Baumann, of Bemidji, MN died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center Fargo surrounded by his family.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with Pastor Nate Bendorf officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
John Karl Baumann was born May 25, 1962 in Ashland, WI. He lived in Hartford, WI until the age of 5, when the family moved to Huntsville, AL. At the age of 16, the family moved to Las Vegas and John graduated from Vo-Tech High School in 1980 where he focused on cabinetry work. After high school he worked in the cabinetry trade in Las Vegas before enrolling at Ely Community College in Ely, MN. He would stay there for 2 years before transferring to Bemidji State University. John met and eventually married Nancy Statton on July, 9, 1988. They moved to Little Rock, AR and stayed there for 6 years where John worked for Marvin Windows. They then moved to McKinney, TX where he worked for Atlas Rolling Steel for 2 years. They then moved to Indianapolis, IN where John worked for Overhead Garage Door Company. In 1998 they moved to Bemidji where he took a job with North Central Door Company. In 2000, he started Bemidji Millworks and operated it until his death. John truly loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, camping and canoeing- an endeavor he fondly shared with his father, paddling their favorite canoe, The Good Ship Lollipop. John also enjoyed watching NASCAR, Minnesota Vikings and FOX News. Woodworking was a tremendous love of John’s that brought him great joy and satisfaction which he shared with many.
John is survived by his sons, Ross & Nick Baumann; parents, Roy & Marilyn Baumann; sister, Janet Baumann and brother, James Baumann; five nieces and 1 nephew. He is preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Fredrickson
