Jannifer Jean Hanson

Jannifer Jean Hanson, 68, of Cass Lake, MN passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND surrounded by her husband and daughters.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Fr. Chuck Huck officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jann was born on July 24, 1949 in Bemidji, MN the daughter of Albert and Beverly (Tibbetts) Sande. She attended grade school in Bemidji until her family moved to East Grand Forks, where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1967. She married Richard Hanson on May 31, 1969 in Bemidji while he was in the US Navy stationed in Idaho Falls, ID and they were later stationed in Groton, CT where their daughter Nicole was born. In 1973 they moved to Kewaunee, WI for employment where their daughter Aimee was born and they lived there for 31 years. During their time in Kewaunee, Jann was a devoted mother who worked as a dental assistant and was active in the Wisconsin Jaycees and Kewaunee Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Upon retirement in 2004, they moved to Minnesota where they built their retirement home on the shores of Cass Lake. She enjoyed living on the lake and spending time with family, especially her granddaughter. She also enjoyed traveling with friends, going south to Alabama in the winter, sitting by campfires, fishing at “the point”, and hanging out with friends. Jann was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Jann was a strong woman who endured many health challenges and always came out with a positive attitude.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Richard Hanson; daughters, Nicole Hanson and Aimee (Ryan) O’Brien; granddaughter, Lilyanah O’Brien; brother, Jeffrey (Jill) Sande; sisters, Jill (Lex Masterson) Brown and Jessica (Jay) Amor and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Beverly Sande and her mother-in-law, Dalpha Hanson.
