Helen Marie (Sandwick) Fusaro

Helen Fusaro, 94, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jul 13, 2019 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Tim Pomp officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Helen Marie Sandwick was born April 21, 1925 in Cass Lake, MN to Sievert and Ellen (Lindquist) Sandwick. She grew up and graduated from Cass Lake High School in 1943. She attended Northern Business School in Bemidji and attained her Associates degree. She worked at IHS in Cass Lake for a few years and became a secretary in the Cass Lake School system. In 1963 Helen moved to Minneapolis and went to work for Honeywell and would remain there until her retirement in 1986. She met and then married Clarence Fusaro in Cass Lake on December 27, 1969. They would live in Brooklyn Park and then Anoka until Clarence died in 1996. In 1997, Helen moved to Bemidji to be closer to her family. She loved sewing and spending time with her family and her cats.

Helen is survived by her nieces Kathleen (Jamie) Eidsmoe, Bemidji and Barbara (Eugene) Gorchynski, Winnipeg, Manitoba; step-children, Kenneth (Kate) Fusaro, Stacy, MN and Margaret Mary (Doug) Andrews, Woodstock, IL and their sons, Jason and Adam; grandchildren, Sarah Anton, Shevlin, MN and her children, Richard Fusaro, Shevlin, MN and Brianna (Dylan) Anton, Bena, MN and their child, Ashton; and Mark (Laura) Anton, St. Paul, MN; great nieces, Kirsten (Damon) Walker, Duluth, MN and their children, Ella , Peyton and Hadley; Heather (Bryan) Anderson, Bemidji, MN and their children, Brayden and Berklee; and Amy (Stephen) Brake, Winnepeg, Manitoba and their daughter, Mya; and great nephew, Jason (Reece) Gorchinski, Winnepeg, Manitoba, and their daughter, Jane. .  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Emil; husband, Clarence and sister, Pearl Ledin.
