Harold Lee Hanson, 79, of Bemidji, MN died Dec. 5, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Cass Lake American Legion, Cass Lake, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Harold was born in Cass Lake on September 9, 1938 to Hans and Margerite Hanson. He grew up and graduated from Cass Lake High School and then enlisted with the US Navy on June 22, 1956 and served until July 1975. He served on the carriers USS Oriskany, USS Ranger and the USS Hancock.  He was a lifetime member and past Commander of Jack Kimball Post 284- a proud soldier to the end.  Harold married Diane on June 17, 1983.  His favorite moments were gathering with his family and neighbors at the lake and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In retirement he enjoyed the Vikings, Twins, his Hudson 1951 Pacemaker and Lutefisk.

He is survived by wife Diane; sons James (Patti) Borchardt, Chandler, AZ and Michael (Vicki) Borchardt and daughter Kristin Neises both of Bemidji; grandchildren, Bethel, Jerusha, Joel, James, Rain, Carol, Paige, Alyssa, Leah and his wingman, Grant; 3 great-grandchildren; favorite sister, Karen Frazer and beloved nieces, nephews and neighbors and 4 children from a previous marriage.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Helmer, Ervin, Donald, Edward and Wayne and in-laws Bonnie, Jay, Henry and Karen.
