Garwood Knutson, 80, of Albuquerque, NM died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his home.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Mike Naylor officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Garwood was born on October 24th, 1937 on the farm in Puposky, MN. He grew up with 4 older brothers to guide him along his journey of life. He attended Austin Elementary in Puposky. He graduated from Bemidji High School. After high school Garwood joined the US Army. While in the army, he graduated from jump school. He ultimately was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He also served his country overseas by parachuting into Lebanon to help keep the peace in the region. After leaving the military, Garwood went to work. He got married, raised a family and raised a farm. He was employed by UPS; IDS; and Seal Master among other various driving positions. He was also successful in his later years working in the movie industry as an actor. He lived in Puposky from birth to 1978; 1978 - early 1980’s- lived in the Bemidji area; 1980’s -mid 1990’s- lived and worked in the Denver, Colorado area; 1990’s to present- Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He is survived by his children, Vicki (Tom) Berge of Puposky, Rick (Leslie) Knutson of Maple Grove, Kevin Knutson of Albertville, Tim Knutson of Orono, Steve (Julie Iverson) Knutson of Bemidji, Beth Ann Knutson of Long Lake, Carl (Holly) Knutson of Bemidji and Dan (Gail) Monson of Nary; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and brother, Wendell (Beverly) Knutson of Puposky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Adeline Knutson and brothers, Karel, Gile and Harold Knutson.
