Emily “Emmy” Lovering, 94, of Bemidji died Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Autumn Hills Assisted Living, Bemidji.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2019 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Brooks officiating. Family will greet friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery, Blackduck.
Em was born August 31, 1925 in Bemidji to Arie and Helen Brooks. She lived her whole life in the Bemidji area. Shew grew up on the Brooks farm where Walmart is today. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1943. She then worked for Munsingwear Bra Factory briefly at 5th and Irvine. While there she earned a trip to Duluth. In 1946, Em married Steve Lovering and they had six children. She worked for the Highway Host/Backyard Restaurant in Bemidji for 23 years retiring at age 65. She then started her extensive volunteer career for the next 15 years. Being involved with various support groups was important to her. Early on she was involved with Dorothy’s Widow Group, also the Reach Program at Hope House, and Nightlight’s at St. Philips Church. She was also part of the quilting group at First Lutheran Church. Em was hard working, had a friendly demeanor and was willing to help others by volunteering.
Em is survived by 1 son, Bruce Lovering and 1 daughter, LuAnn Fuller. She was preceded in death by her husband; 6 siblings; 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Her faith kept her strong in believing she would once again be reunited with all the family and friends she has lost.
