David Anton Wilander

David Anton Wilander,85, of Becida, MN died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.

David was born November 10th, 1933 to Gust and Martha Wilander on his Grandparent's property in Becida. He attended Sankey and Sunny Hill Schools and later graduated from Bemidji High School and Bemidji State College with a degree in History.

David worked on his farm, drove school bus, logged, and was the receiving and accounts payable clerk for ISD# 31. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and especially deer hunting.

He married Bonnie Watkins on January 21, 1961. That marriage lasted 51 years until she passed away in 2012.

David loved to listen to and play music, his fiddle was heard and loved by many over the years. A jam session will be held after the funeral services, all are welcome to play or just listen.

David was a member of the Becida Community Church, Becida Stockmen's Association and Bemidji Eagles Club.

He is survived by his children: Mark "Gus" (Theresa) Wilander, Annette (Scott) Tammaro, Sara (Brent) Lusignan. Grandchildren: Tony Tammaro, Brandon (Katie) Granmo, Ben Wilander, Brody (Madison Erpelding) Wilander, and one Great-Grandson, Liam Granmo. His siblings: Chet (Susan) Wilander, Marie (Gerald) Paulson, and Joy Wilander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, and sisters Artis and Joann.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 21st at the Becida Community Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. at Becida Community Church with Pastor Jan Werlein officiating. Interment will be at the Fern Township Cemetery.
