David Allen Halvorson, 69, of Bemidji, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN died suddenly on Friday, November 2, 2018 at his residence.
David’s Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
David Allen Halvorson was born on February 28, 1949 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Harold and Alpha (Langved) Halvorson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. David attended Steiner Country School, Northrop Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1967. After high school, David attended Moorhead State College with a degree in Industrial Arts.
In the early 1970’s, David was married to Peggy Elleson for a short time.
He worked as a truck driver for Stordahl Trucking in Thief River Falls for a time and then became Program Coordinator for the Occupational Development Center in Thief River Falls.
On October 2, 1976, David was married to Madelene Vaudrin at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. The couple lived in Thief River Falls before moving to Bemidji, MN. David continued to work for the Occupational Development Center in Bemidji until his retirement at the age of 61.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, curling, ice fishing, riding motorcycle and spending time in the outdoors. David was a kind, quiet and stubborn man of Scandinavian heritage.
Survivors include his father, Harold Halvorson of Thief River Falls, MN; siblings, Debra (Nick) Drees of Thief River Falls, MN, Gary (Laurie) Halvorson of Bemidji, MN and Brad (Patti) Halvorson of Prior Lake, MN; nieces & nephews, Nicholas (Heather) Drees, Michael (Vy) Drees, Jon Drees, Tony (Kristina) Halvorson, Sam (Tracy) Halvorson; great-niece, Nora Drees; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Madelene on December 9, 1993; and mother, Alpha Halvorson on August 18, 2015.
