Dale Odell Halverson

Dale Odell Halverson whom has entered the presence of his Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church, Bemidji with Pastor Derek Claypool officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.

Dale was born in their home in Lime Springs, IA on February 8, 1934 to Tosten and Evelyn Halverson. He moved with his family to Laporte, MN at the age of four and graduated from Laporte High School.

Soon after graduation, Dale enlisted in the US Army and served two years. With the 82nd Airborne Division, he was stationed in Germany as a mail clerk and in Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he was a paratrooper. During this time, God spoke to his heart and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour.

After his discharge from the US Army, God united Dale and Sharon Erickson in marriage on April 20, 1963. Dale sided houses for about five years in various states.  Later, he became a carpenter-supervisor for the Bemidji school district #31.

Dale and Sharon were foster parents for 15 years with PATH. Together they were faithful members of Faith Baptist Church and served in different capacities.

Dale loved his family time, hunting, fishing, and travelling. He was gentle, kind, and compassionate.

With God’s grace, Dale and Sharon shared 56 years of marriage. God blessed them with four wonderful children. Sondra (David) Hancock, Brenda Sue Halverson (whom is united with her daddy in Heaven), Rebecca Thompson, and Bradley (Jennifer) Halverson. Dale and Sharon were also blessed with eight precious grandchildren. Zechariah, Nethaniel, Mikayla, Abigail, and Titus Thompson and Tyler Nelson, Nickolas and Riley Halverson.

Dale is survived by brothers Hartzel (Myrneth) Bemidji, MN, David (Jana) Divine, TX, and sister Gay (Steve) Mostad Kelliher, MN, Sister-in-law Ellen Halverson Bemidji, MN. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Oscar, Conrad, Daymond and sister Wanda Todd.
