Charles Schummer, 83, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, October 27, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Bemidji Eagles Club. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji.
Charles Frank Schummer was born December 1, 1935 in Bemidji to Anton and Mary (Schmitt) Schummer. He grew up in Bemidji but graduated from high school in the Milwaukee, WI area. After graduation, he moved back to Bemidji and worked at various jobs. On April 19, 1958 he married Bonnie Rose in Bemidji. He worked at the Land of Lakes Creamery in Bemidji for six years prior to working for the U.S. Postal Service. Charlie worked as a postal clerk, finally retiring in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, camping and especially playing cards. Charlie was his happiest being with his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Schummer of Bemidji; daughter, Jodi (Mike) Lindsey of Bemidji; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and sister, Leona Traut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley Schummer; brothers, Alvin and Jack Schummer and sister, Beverly Hanson.
