Norman Valentine Claypool died Saturday May 13, 2017 at his home.
No services will be held. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Norman Valentine Claypool was born February 14, 1929 in Maine Township in Ottertail County, Minnesota to Wayne & Annie (Dess) Claypool. His mother died when he was 5 years old and he went to live with his Aunt Nona Claypool on the home farm in Maine Township. Norman attended School at District 120 through 8th grade and graduated from Underwood High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Norman worked for Kahlstorf Construction of Lake George for 15 years. Then worked for the United States Postal Service till his retirement in 1990. He married Vivian Vesely in 1957. They lived in Bemidji for 11 years and then moved to a farm in Frohn Township, MN. He was a member of the American Legion and a Life member of the V.F.W., MOC and the IWVA.
Survived by his Wife, Vivian Claypool, Bemidji; children, Robert Claypool, Bemidji; Dale Claypool, Storm Lake, Iowa and Karen (Joe) Savoie, Bemidji; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a sister Charlotte DeFrance, New Ulm, Mn.
Preceded in death by his parents, Wayne & Annie Claypool; brothers, Merrill Claypool and Daniel Claypool.
Family requests no memorials.
