Kurt Achenbach Martinson

Kurt Martinson, 70, of Bemidji, MN passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at his winter home in Edinburg, TX.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kurt was born to Willard and Mamie (Achenbach) Martinson. Kurt grew up in Bemidji and graduated from Bemidji High School. He lived in different cities in Minnesota then later moved to Spring, TX living there for 25 years. He worked for various companies as a system analyst, contracting with various hospitals. In 2004 he moved back to Minnesota and married Sue Carlson in 2005. They loved spending their retirement down in their winter home in Edinburg, TX. He loved driving his golf cart around the park and giving everyone a hard time joking with them.

He is survived by his wife Sue Martinson of Bemidji; daughters, Stacy Goodbrand of Park Rapids and Nicole Martinson of Bemidji; son, Jacob Martinson of Katy, TX; 2 step daughters, Sheila (Mike) Hirt of Bemidji and Kimberly (Kevin Sturgin) Mattson of Cambridge, MN; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Mamie Martinson; a sister, Pat Leyendecker and 2 brothers,  Reuel and Bill.
