John E. “Jack” Drury, age 87 of Bemidji, MN died Friday, February 2, 2018 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, Bemidji with Pastor Linnea Papke-Larson officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the spring at Greenwood Cemetery.
Jack was born in St. Paul, MN on July 30, 1930 to George & Jessie Mae (Wilson) Drury. He attended the University of Wisconsin for two years. Jack worked in Alaska and then at 3M, where he met Carole R. O’Gary. They were married in 1954 and had three daughters. In 1960, the family moved to Bemidji where he went into business owning and operating several businesses until his retirement. He was Past Master of North St. Paul Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and President of the Bemidji Shrine Club in 1973. He joined the Paul Bunyan Barbershop Chorus in 1962 and sang in several Quartets. He joined the Century Notes Quartet in 1980 and sang with them until 2013. He was also a member of the Bemidji Elks Club since 1962. Jack enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively.
He was survived by his wife Carole Drury who passed away on February 8, 2018; daughters, Gail (Jim) Conway, Bemidji; Karen (Tony) Karst, Walker & Jackie Naylor, Bemidji; Grandchildren, Christopher, Joel, Tony, Zachary, Kerry and Krista; Great Grandchildren, Jameson, Kellan, Raegan, Taylor, Kaylyn, & Brantlee. Preceded in death by his parents, George & Jessie Drury.
Family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
