Janice Jane (Charon) Bannor

Janice Bannor, 73, of Laporte, MN died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Guthrie Cemetery.

Janice Jane Charon was born June 2, 1944 in Bemidji to Joseph and Pearle Charon. She grew up and attended school in Bemidji. She met and then married Clayton Bannor on January 7, 1960 in the 1st Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake, IA. In 1968, they moved out to the country near Guthrie, where they would raise their five boys. Janice worked at various career opportunities throughout the years which included F.W. Woolworths, Cass County DAC, Gifts of the Wild and Surplus Outlet. Janice enjoyed crafts, knitting; upholstery which turned into Wildwood Gift Shop that she ran out of her home. She was a very talented cake baker and designer. Janice also owned and operated the Cheddars Wheel in the Paul Bunyan Mall. One of Janice’s lifelong wishes was attained a few years ago when she purchased a 1957 Chevy which allowed her and Clayton to take their drives through the local area.

She is survived by her husband, Clayton Bannor of Guthrie; sons, Marvin (Terri) of Guthrie, Merlin Bannor of Bemidji, Marlo Bannor of Fargo, ND and Mitchell (Holly) Bannor of Guthrie; 9 grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, Ryan, Christopher, Kyle, Cody, Missy, Tyler and Brooke; 4 great-grandchildren, Marissa, Ryley, Jaxson and Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Bannor; great-grandson, Treason Bannor; siblings, Edwin, Earl, Edith Magnus, Ethel Rockensock, Dorn, Lauren, JoAnn Gaude and Berdell.
