Janette Elaine (Spaulding) Jallen

Janette Jallen, 88, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck, MN.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Debs with Pastor Mike Naylor officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Olson-Schwartz funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Debs.

Janette Elaine Spaulding was born August 19, 1929 in Springfield, IL to Malcolm and Josephine (Hubbel) Spaulding. She grew up and graduated from Waverly High School, Waverly, IL. In January 1949 when Janette was 20, the family moved to a farm near Nary, MN. Janette worked at Munsingwear in Bemidji until it closed. She married Ingvald Jallen on August 3, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Debs. Together they farmed and raised their six children. Janette was a fantastic seamstress, knitter, avid reader and puzzle builder. She and Ingvald had many beautiful years together. He died in October 1996 and Janette would remain on the family farm for 55 years to the day. Janette was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She served on the school board of Debs as well as its PTA. She enjoyed her bus trips and playing cards with friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Allen) Wynkoop of Puposky, Vickie (Gene) Olsen of Pinewood, Nancy (Jim) Workman of Bemidji, Dianne (Pete) Newby of Bemidji and Becky Moe of Bemidji; son, Rod Jallen of Pinewood; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Ted (Marie) Spaulding of Washington and sister, JoAnne Spires of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ingvald; brother David and sister, Joyce Sadek.
