I will always remember Evelyn as the the matriarch of Wilton. She did everything for the church, the kids and the town. Evelyn taught latin to the alter boys and some Sunday school or religious education at her house as well.. She made some pretty good cookies too. She was also a caregiver to many including me after the bad motorcycle accident on the Grant Lake Road. I am really sorry to have missed her funeral. Evelyn was a kind and caring person to the Downs family and many others.( I was out of the state visiting my daughter Betsy in AZ.)

WE HAVE THOUGHT OF EVELYN SO MANY TIMES SINCE SHE LEFT HER HOME IN WILTON. I (IRENE) ALWAYS ENJOYED GOING TO THE POST OFFICE TO GET THE MAIL BECAUSE EVELYN ALWAY KNEW EXACTLY WHO I WAS AND HAD A SMILE AND SOME CHIT CHAT FOR ME. RON APPRECIATED HIS VISITS WITH EVELYN AND FAMILY WHEN HE STOPPED BY TO SAY HELLO. EVLYN WAS A GREAT LADY AND WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR MEMORIES.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Evelyn. We lived across the street from her when I was very young. I enjoyed our many visits and of course the old car she had out back that we loved to pretend to drive! I also remember her from Wilton School. I loved her joy and smile. I am certain she will be missed by many.
