Evelyn Rafferty, 98, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Tamarack Court, Bemidji.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wilton with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Wilton. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji.
Evelyn Marie Jenkauski was born March 26, 1919 in Bemidji, MN to Adam and Genevieve (Dumone) Jenkauski. She attended Scribner and St. Philip’s Catholic School. Evelyn married Boyce Rafferty on January 16, 1940 in Wilton, MN. Boyce was killed in action on the Island of Okinawa. She lived in Wilton where she continued to raise her family working at various jobs. She worked as a cook for the Wilton Steak House, cooked at Wilton Grade School and was the Postal Clerk for the Wilton Post Office. She loved playing bingo, cards, going to rummage sales, crocheted over 100 afghans that she gave away and loved writing a daily journal.
She is survived by her sons, Armand (Janice) Rafferty of Mt. Iron, MN, Elroy (Judy) Rafferty of Hoyt Lakes, MN and Gerald Rafferty of Knoxville, IL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Boyce; brothers, Adam, Joseph and Martin Jenkauski; sisters, Frances Jenkauski and Bernice Hamilton; grandson, Bruce Rafferty and great-grandson, Dean Johnson.
