Ellen Gillstrom

Ellen Gillstrom, 97, of Bemidji, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her home, Rosewood Eldercare in Bemidji.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Bemidji on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are with Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.

Ellen was born on July 11, 1919 to David and Viola Gillstrom in Bemidji. She grew up in the Bemidji area working on the family farm and later worked at the potato factory alongside her two sisters. She then lived and traveled with her sisters and brother-in-law until 2002 when the three sisters all moved to Rosewood Eldercare. She was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church. She loved going to church functions and read her bible every night. Ellen loved animals, dancing, singing, playing the harmonica and tambourine. Her greatest love was being with her family and working on puzzles with her sisters. Her laughter, sweet disposition and love for life and the Lord will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Albert (Doneta) Gillstrom of Bemidji and her beloved niece, Michelle Smith of Bemidji.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albin and sisters Elsa and Ester Gillstrom.
